Olympic Trials Finds Phelps, Hoff Besting World Records

It was a heart-pounder Sunday night as U.S. Olympic Trials got underway in Omaha last night with the men and women’s 400 meter freestyle and 400 meter IM. Records fell left and right thanks to swimmers including Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff as the first members of the 2008 U.S. Olympic swimming team earned their spots on the squad.

Long Beach Grunions Finishes First Place at IGLA

The Long Beach Grunion swim team won the medium team division at 2008 International Gay & Lesbian Aquatics swim meet, held this year in Washington, D.C., hosted by District of Columbia Aquatics Club from June 18 to June 22. This is the third time in the past six years that the Grunions have won the medium team division.

Wrapping Up the Bingham Cup

More than 30 rugby teams made the trek to Dublin, Ireland this year for The Bingham Cup 2008, an international rugby tournament named for 9/11 hero Mark Kendall Bingham, one of the founding members of the Gotham Knights rugby team. The Sydney Convicts ran past London’s Kings Cross Steelers by a score of 18-3 to claim their second consecutive Bingham Cup victory in the Premiere Cup Division.
